The Structure of Athletic Socks Specially Designed for the Foot

1. Introduction to outdoor athletic socks

In the current daily life and sports, socks are always not given the attention they deserve. Socks have always acted as a foil to shoes, which have long been thought to be the main protection for feet. However, it is important to note that athletic socks are the closest to the feet. If the socks are not properly selected, the shoes will cause direct damage to the feet.

In outdoor sports, some people think that as long as the socks are thick enough, they can fully protect the feet, so it makes sense to wear two pairs of cotton socks. Because the two pairs of socks that are put together can better adhere to the feet, the friction between the feet and the socks is weakened and converted into friction between the athletic socks and the shoes. However, people often overlook another problem. After a long walk, the feet will swell by 7% - 8%. Two pairs of socks that are put together will be tightly bound on the entire foot, even the part above the ankle will be wrapped, resulting in poor blood circulation in the foot, which will cause some foot diseases.

2. Design of the structure of outdoor athletic socks

(1) Terry

First of all, there must be a pad, that is, there must be a towel-like loop at the bottom of the athletic socks, so it is also called a terry loop. The main function of the terry is to increase the elasticity between the shoe and the foot, and at the same time, fully increase the contact area between the socks and the air, so that it can better absorb moisture and perspiration. Of course, the performance of moisture absorption and perspiration also has a lot to do with the material. For different intensities of exercise, the height, density and position of the loops should be different. When hiking at high altitudes or walking for a long time, you should wear those with loops on the soles and tops of your feet, and the height and density of the loops are the highest, so that you can protect your feet in all directions.

(2) Add elastic fixation to the arch of the foot

There must be a ring of elastic fixation on the arch of the athletic grip socks so that the socks can fit well on the feet. It used to happen a lot in the past: After walking for a while, the socks on the feet all went to the front, or the socks spun while walking. This is all because of the poor adhesion of the socks to the feet. Therefore, adding elastic fixation to the arch of the foot can avoid such things as much as possible. Under normal circumstances, when the sole of a person touches the ground, the area of the arch of the foot in contact with the ground is the smallest. When walking, the arch of the foot suffers the least friction, and at the same time, this is the middle of the entire foot, and it is most suitable to add a fixation to this part. The elastic fixation should not be too tight. If it is too tight, it will affect blood circulation, and it should not be too loose. Otherwise, it will not have a fixed effect and the socks will fall off the feet.

(3) Toes

The toes and heels of athletic socks must be thickened. The force of the heel is the largest, and the toe is a relatively weak place, so special protection is necessary. The splicing part of the toe and the sock must be flat, and there must be no edges. This place is the toe position on the foot surface. If the seam is not flat, it is easy to wear the foot.

(4) Ankle

This part is generally the position of the upper, and it is necessary to add a terry floor mat. However, since this part of the foot is the first place where the foot comes into contact with the air, the breathable function of athletic socks must be reflected in the structure. Generally, a corrugated structure that is slightly sparser than the loop structure is used on the front of the ankle, where it contacts the tongue, and elastic materials are added. Because the inner layer of the tongue is mostly made of foam elastic material, which is softer than the material in other parts of the shoe and has less friction, the corrugated structure will not cause damage to the foot in this position. The ankle is the most active part of the body. Adding elastic material to the socks can ensure the normal movement of the foot without too much restraint.
